Springboks fly-half Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu posted some fantastic numbers in the win over Argentina.

Springboks fly-half Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu dropped a near-perfect solo display to fire his side to an emphatic 67-30 win over Argentina in the Rugby Championship.

The half-back played like a man possessed at times, driving the rampant Boks to a statement win and leaving them in pole position to claim the title next weekend at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham.

While he has already received high plaudits for his display, his stats from the Durban Test match are a story in their own right, as he posted some ludicrous numbers across the board.

Here is a deep dive into the numbers behind Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s remarkable performance.

Attacking master at work

‘Tony-ball’ as it has now become known demands a 10 to be the key driver behind almost everything, be it through running or playmaking, and that’s exactly what Feinberg-Mngomezulu was in the Boks’ victory.

Ball-in-hand, he was simply spellbinding. Across his shift, the number 10 beat 13 defenders, while also notching 134 metres from his 14 carries. Around that, he also notched three clean breaks. These stats in isolation are quite something, but it’s the fact that he topped the charts across the whole match in each category that also proves just how influential he was to this win.

To put things even more into context, his tally of defenders beaten was more than the next three Springboks players combined, with Jasper Wiese, Pieter-Steph du Toit and Ethan Hooker beating 12 between them (Wiese and Du Toit five, Hooker two).

He also contributed on the scoreboard, too, grabbing a fine hat-trick and slotting 10 kicks off the tee (eight conversions and two penalties). Rounding off his attacking exploits, he also grabbed an assist.

Kicking and defence

A lot of the focus will, and quite rightly, be on his exploits ball-in-hand, but he was just as pivotal with his boot too. Across his stint, he notched 15 kicks out of hand, making a staggering 422 metres in the process.

He also chipped in with two tackles in defence.
