Glasgow Warriors have confirmed that Huw Jones will join French outfit RC Toulon this summer, after agreeing to make the move to the Top 14 club at the end of the current campaign.

Jones, who missed a large chunk of the season after undergoing Achilles surgery, returned to action for Glasgow during their 33-21 away victory over Clermont Auvergne on Saturday.

He hit the ground running upon his return as he scored one of the Warriors’ five tries during the Investec Champions Cup encounter.

Jones has played in 82 matches to date for Glasgow Warriors during two stints with the Scotstoun-based outfit and has also made 58 Test appearances for Scotland since his debut in 2016.

He has been a vital cog in the Warriors machine during both those spells and was one of their star performers when they were crowned United Rugby Championship (URC) champions during the 2023/24 season.

Shone for Glasgow in the 2024 URC final

Jones crossed for the third – and ultimately match-winning – try when Franco Smith’s troops clinched a memorable 21-16 victory over the Bulls in the URC final in June 2024, one of 28 five-pointers in the Scottish club’s colours to date.

The 31-year-old’s excellent form for the Warriors and Scotland was rewarded when he was selected for the 2025 British & Irish Lions tour of Australia.

Jones started in all three Tests against the Wallabies and scored an important try in the famous touring team’s decisive second Test victory in Melbourne.

The Warriors wished Jones the best for the future via a press statement and said they look forward to continuing to work with the centre for the remainder of the season.

Meanwhile, Toulon sporting director Laurent Emmanuelli expressed his delight that Jones has agreed to join their ranks.

‘An international-class player’

“He is an international-class player, a key member of his national team, who has long been playing at the highest European and world levels,” Emmanuelli said in a statement.

Jones started his career with the Stormers in 2015 before joining Glasgow in 2017. He then moved to Harlequins in 2021 before returning to the Warriors the following season.

He is the second Glasgow star whose impending move to a French club has been announced after it was confirmed earlier in the week that Scotland fly-half Adam Hastings will join Montpellier next season.
