Ellie Kildunne reveals secret behind Rugby World Cup form in ‘world first’

She was the World Player of the Year last year and despite missing the quarter-final against Scotland through injury Ellie Kildunne returned to score twice in a dominant performance against France.

England won a hard-fought contest 35-17 and Kildunne scored twice, the second a stunning burst past five French players to cap off a player of the match performance.

England face Canada in the final on Saturday, September 27 at Allianz Stadium in Twickenham and Kildunne has revealed the secret to her tournament success so far. The Red Roses full-back wore a brand new pair of boots for the semi-final in a world first.

Boot maker Canterbury teamed up with Kildunne to create the first ever set of rugby boots designed by a female player.

The Speed Falcon elite boot is a limited-edition boot worn by Kildunne and only 400 will go on sale here.

Kildunne designed the boot to be lighter than ever before and Canterbury has trimmed 24g off the total weight for the special edition. Designed for agile, quick players, the boot was demonstrated with devastating effect as Kildunne raced through for her second try of the day.

She said: “These boots give me everything I need on the pitch. They’re light, fast and built for my style. I feel confident every time I put them on, which is why they’re the only boots I want to wear.

“This is a really proud moment for me, and I’m really pleased with what we’ve been able to deliver with this new boot, thanks to the Canterbury team.

“Canterbury has always supported my creativity, and to have my own boot is something I’ve always dreamed of. I hope the fans like it, and we see a lot of players – both men and women – wearing the design for the upcoming season.”

The boots feature a redesigned sole with explosive energy response and lightweight stability, as well as a cheetah print design.
