Loose Pass is an open column, sometimes an attempt to draw attention to aspects of the game which sometimes fly under the radar, or happen off the field, as well as expanding on technical aspects of the sport and refereeing decisions. Other times it is designed to present a point of view and provoke debate.
I started as a junior writer at Planet Rugby in 2004, progressing through the ranks to Editor in 2007.
I left the full-time role to move into the business world in 2012, as well as to pursue a coaching career.
I have played and coached to (roughly) third-tier level in England, France and South Africa, as well as coaching at senior club level in the USA. I am a graduate of the IRANZ High Performance coaching program and currently coach selection sides at U20 and U18 level in Germany, where I work as a business controller for an international drinks company.
Born in England into a Welsh family, I hold a BA in international studies from the Open University and an MBA in finance from the University of Leicester.
