Wray wary of wounded Wasps

Saracens back-row Jackson Wray is expecting a strong response from Wasps when the two teams clash at Allianz Park on Sunday.

Wasps enter the fixture following three straight losses and are desperate for a win as they have lost pace with the Premiership leaders.

Wray is understandably wary of the wounded visitors, telling Saracens’ website: “We know what it’s like when you lose games back-to-back. It’s very frustrating and they will be working very hard this week. They are going to be very focused on their training, and we know this weekend they are going to come out firing. So, it is up for us to be ready for that.”

Last season’s Premiership finalists opened the year with back-to-back wins over Sale and Worcester, but have stumbled against tough opposition, coming up short against Harlequins, Exeter and Bath over the last three weeks.

Saracens meanwhile are progressing well with four wins from five but Wray knows Wasps are a threat in the Premiership’s game of the round.

“They have a very dangerous backline if they have space. They can cut you apart in the blink of an eye,” he said.

“It is our job to prepare well, limit their space, and make the most of the opportunities that we can create. We are looking for a very physical, intense performance against a very good side.”
