Work resumes on Edinburgh’s new stadium

Work has resumed on Edinburgh’s new stadium in the shadow of BT Murrayfield, the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) confirmed in a statement.

Project Eden was suspended in March because of the coronavirus pandemic and the SRU has since had to deal with a major financial shortfall because of the suspension of sport.

But the union has committed to continuing the project.

An SRU statement read: “Work has resumed today on the club’s new stadium project following confirmation from the Scottish Government that the construction sector can restart, on a phased basis.

“Contractors will now continue work on the 7,800 capacity stadium, following the Scottish Government’s health and safety guidelines regarding Covid-19.”
