Willison – ‘Adams setting the standard’

Centre Jackson Willison admits that wing Josh Adams is “setting the standard” for Worcester Warriors’ backs as he goes in search of records.

Adams needs two more tries to break Mark Cueto’s record against Bath on Friday evening after scoring in each of his last six Premiership appearances. Cueto holds the league record having scored in eight straight games.

Adams is also just one short of becoming Warriors’ highest-ever try-scorer in a Premiership season as he attempts to pass Miles Benjamin and Cooper Vuna.

And Willison wants the Welshmen to keep his head down and not be lured by off-field distractions.

“Josh been outstanding,” he told Worcester News.

“He has got his own agenda as he is after some type of record. He has been telling us all week about it.

“There is a lot of competition as there are five or six fit outside backs that can really slot in without much of a change.

“But Josh is really setting the standard with his performances.”

Adams is joined in a potent back three by powerful Kiwi wing Bryce Heem and full-back Chris Pennell.

“Bath would be silly not to think that our backline is a threat,” Willison said.

“But it does start up front so there is a big onus on our forwards to try to get us that front-foot ball and if the weather plays its part we might get a few more tries.”
