Watson determined ahead of Australia clash

England wing Anthony Watson admits his side will have to put in a better showing next week if they’re to beat Australia at Twickenham.

Eddie Jones’ charges won 21-8 in a tough encounter and that has left Watson under no illusions that they must improve against the Wallabies.

“We created opportunities but couldn’t finish as many as we would have liked,” explained the 23-year-old wing when speaking to England Rugby.

“Going in to next week that is definitely an area we are going to look to correct. Come Australia it will be fine.”

What has also hurt Watson and England is that they allowed Argentina a try late on, which is another area they will be working on in training.

“We are very resilient in our defence and we pride ourselves on making those front up tackles,” he added.

“There are definitely positives to take from that, although we would have liked to have not conceded that try at the end.”

He continued: “All of our focus is now on Australia next week.

“We saw in the Rugby Championship how good their attacking skills are so it is important for us to make sure we review this game and then prepare as best we can for next weekend.

“We will have to be better against Australia, we have to finish opportunities, we will have to be on the money.”
