Warren Whiteley suffers injury setback

The Lions have been dealt a blow with the news that their captain, Warren Whiteley, will be sidelined for up to two months due to injury.

Whiteley was forced off the field during the first-half of the Lions’ 19-17 Super Rugby defeat to the Stormers in Cape Town on Saturday.

Lions team doctor Rob Collis revealed that the 31-year-old has a “torn pectoralis major muscle (left)”.

Collis said Whiteley’s tendon is intact and that he should recover in six to eight weeks.
