British and Irish Lions skipper Sam Warburton will take no part in the third and final Test against Australia due to a hamstring injury.

Lions skipper Sam Warburton will take no part in the third and final Test against Australia due to a hamstring injury.

The flanker suffered the injury during his side's 16-15 defeat to the Wallabies on Saturday and scans on Monday revealed a “significant tear in his left hamstring”, which will see him sidelined for the immediate future.

“It is incredibly disappointing to be ruled out of the tour through injury as we head to Sydney for the deciding match,” said Warburton.

“I wish the team all the best and hope I can play some part in the build-up this week. I am confident that the boys can finish the job off and secure the series win.”
