Waratahs unchanged for Rebels

Date published: July 23 2020

Waratahs head coach Rob Penney has named an unchanged starting line-up for Friday’s Super Rugby AU clash with the Melbourne Rebels in Sydney.

Penney has stuck with the same run-on side that fell agonisingly short of victory against the Brumbies at ANZ Stadium last weekend.

Tom Horton maintains his place in the starting side at hooker after scoring his first try in Super Rugby in Round Three, while Joey Walton will continue in midfield alongside Karmichael Hunt.

Another potential Super Rugby AU debutant joins the bench, with Joe Cotton named in place of Robbie Abel as the back-up hooker. He joins Junior Wallaby team-mates Ben Donaldson and Mark Nawaqanitawase on the reserves.

Wallaby scrum-half Jake Gordon makes his long-awaited return from injury via the bench after overcoming a troublesome hamstring issue, while Jed Holloway could make his first appearance in Super Rugby AU.
