The Waratahs have received a major boost ahead of their showdown with the Stormers by re-signing in-form centre Tom Carter for two more seasons.

The Waratahs have received a major boost ahead of their showdown with the Stormers by re-signing in-form centre Tom Carter for two more seasons.

The deal was finalised in the past few days and will see 25-year-old Carter remain in Waratahs' colours until 2010.

The 103kg back made his Super 14 debut this season in the opening game against the Hurricanes and has gone on to establish himself as the Waratahs' number one inside centre.

He produced his best performance in the win over the Sharks two weeks ago, scoring a memorable try after chasing a kick through from fly-half Kurtley Beale.

Carter's strong displays this season saw him attract interest from elsewhere but he wanted to stay.

The Syndey-based franchise have lost experienced centres Sam Harris and Ben Jacobs to overseas clubs next year.
