Wallaby charged with drink driving

Rugby Australia has released a statement saying they are investigating reports that hooker Tolu Latu has been charged with drink driving.

According to Sydney’s Daily Telegraph, the Australia international was found sleeping in his car in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The 26-year-old Waratahs front-rower played for his Super Rugby outfit on Saturday in their 40-32 victory over the Reds in Brisbane.

However, this report overshadowed the triumph and, with the Israel Folau case continuing to dominate headlines, it is an unwanted sideshow for Rugby Australia, who released a statement regarding the recent news.

“Rugby Australia and New South Wales Rugby Union have been made aware today by the Daily Telegraph of an incident involving Wallabies and Waratahs hooker Tolu Latu,” they said as they investigate further.

“Rugby Australia’s Integrity Unit is working with the New South Wales Rugby Union to ascertain all of the facts.”
