Wallabies wing Reece Hodge cited for act of foul play

Australia wing Reece Hodge has been cited for an act of foul play contrary to Law 9.13 (dangerous tackle) in their fixture against Fiji on Saturday.

The incident was a tackle on flanker Peceli Yato which took place in the 25th minute of the Wallabies’ Rugby World Cup 2019 Pool D match.

Hodge will attend a hearing before an independent judicial committee chaired by Nigel Hampton, QC (New Zealand), former international coach Frank Hadden (Scotland) and former referee José Luis Rolandi (Argentina).

The hearing will take place in Tokyo with the date and time to be confirmed shortly.

Elsewhere, Argentina wing Matías Moroni has been issued with a Citing Commissioner Warning (CCW) for an act of foul play contrary to Law 9.27 (hair pulling) at the end of their Rugby World Cup match against France.

The CCW will remain on the player’s record to be dealt with in the event that the player accumulates three yellow cards and/or Citing Commissioner Warnings during the tournament.
