Following their 13-9 defeat to France in their Six Nations clash at the Principality Stadium on Friday, here’s the player ratings for Wales.

15 Liam Williams: Looked a threat in attack and was solid defensively and in the air before making way for Gareth Anscombe in the second-half. 8/10

14 Alex Cuthbert: Not the impact that he made against England last weekend, but he did not put a foot wrong during a resilient Wales display. 7

13 Owen Watkin: A solid, rather than spectacular contribution by the Ospreys centre as Wales’ midfield held its own. 6

12 Jonathan Davies: Made a couple of sharp breaks and put in his share of tackles, showcasing experience throughout. Will rue not taking that possible try-scoring pass. 7

11 Josh Adams: Looked to make his mark on the contest and roamed off his wing for work, but it was ultimately a frustrating evening. 6

10 Dan Biggar: Kicked brilliantly, both off the tee and tactically, keeping Wales on the front foot for large parts of the game. 8

9 Tomos Williams: Suffered a head injury after just nine minutes, and left the field not to return. 5

8 Taulupe Faletau: Another masterclass from the Wales number eight, who time and time again was at the heart of Wales’ best efforts. 8

7 Josh Navidi: A strong performance in only his second game of the season after recovering from a shoulder injury. A relentless effort. 7

6 Seb Davies: Switched to the back-row for his first Six Nations start, he gave Wales another lineout option as Wayne Pivac got his breakaway trio selection spot-on. 7

5 Adam Beard: His best performance of this season’s Six Nations. Showed admirable energy in all areas. 7

4 Will Rowlands: Was a dominant figure in the lineout, especially on Wales’ defensive throws, and was a workaholic elsewhere. 8

3 Tomas Francis: A strong showing by Wales’ experienced tighthead prop, particularly at scrum-time. 6

2 Ryan Elias: Did the nitty-gritty work well as the Wales forwards took it to France in all areas. 6

1 Gareth Thomas: Justified Wales head coach Pivac’s decision to start him ahead of the more experienced Wyn Jones with a strong display. 7

Replacements: The Wales bench made its mark, with impressive displays from the likes of scrum-half Kieran Hardy and wing Louis Rees-Zammit. 7
