Lyon claimed their first European trophy as they proved to be too strong for Toulon in the Challenge Cup final, winning 30-12 on Friday.

Tries from Baptiste Couilloud and Pierre-Louis Barassi as well a penalty try and points off the tee from Leo Berdeu and Charlie Ngatai saw them to glory.

Toulon were disappointing on the night with their two tries coming from Baptiste Serin and Cheslin Kolbe, with Louis Carbonel adding one conversion.

There were joyous scenes at the end for Lyon and their coaching staff in a well-deserved victory that saw them dominate the majority of the second half.
