Ulster performance pleases Lealiifano

Ulster fly-half Christian Lealiifano believes his side can go a long way in the Champions Cup after their win over Harlequins on Friday.

Lealiifano was man-of-the-match in the 52-24 victory at Kingspan Stadium, with the five points moving them two points behind La Rochelle.

But the Australian admitted they had to work for the maximum and praised Harlequins for their start to the game in a high-scoring clash.

"It was a fantastic performance from both sides, they (Harlequins) really turned up to play and tested us at some crucial times so there's some good learnings for us. We're quite pleased with our performance and to score some tries in front of a packed house is really nice," he told BT Sport.

Ulster led by just four points at the break and Lealiifano revealed what the message was at half-time, saying he was happy with how his men responded.

"Just try and look after the ball and control our game as much as we could," he explained. "They were fantastic in the first-half and put us under a lot of pressure, which is great moving forward in this competition, so there's points for us to improve on. This is Europe, they are always going to be close games so we're quiet pleased."

Lealiifano, who leaves the province at the end of January to return home, added: "Hopefully the boys can really go a long way in this competition, I've just got to keep adding value where I can, play my part and just enjoy it for now."
