Three-time European champions Toulon have announced the signing of Springbok and Stormers prop Wilco Louw on a short-term contract.
Similar to the Ben Te’o deal, which they confirmed last week, the tighthead has joined as World Cup cover with a number of their players set to take part in the global tournament in Japan.
Louw has earned 13 caps at international level and last played for the country against Argentina on August 17, but the prop has not done enough to earn a place in South Africa’s 31-man squad.
The 25-year-old is also a Stormers stalwart, having played his entire professional career in Cape Town, but will now venture overseas for the first time.
He will add valuable power and experience to a side that are looking to improve on a disappointing campaign in 2018/19, which saw them finish down in ninth place.
