The 25-year-old Wales international has signed a two-year deal with an option for an additional year.

On Thursday, Cardiff Blues announced the departure of the 48-Test cap back, ending months of speculation.

Halfpenny will compete with former Wallaby Drew Mitchell, former England full-back Delon Armitage and Frenchman Vincent Martin for the number 15 jersey in Toulon.

French international full-back Alexis Palisson is expected to leave a club a year before the end of his contract.
