Tom Wright earns Brumbies contract extension

The Brumbies have announced that livewire wing Tom Wright has re-signed with the club and Rugby Australia for next season.

The 23-year-old joined the Brumbies at the end of 2018 from the NRL and has since established himself as one of the brightest backs in the country.

Wright was obviously delighted to have re-signed for another year and is now looking forward to more memorable moments at the Canberra franchise.

“I’m really happy to be staying at the Brumbies and in Canberra next season,” he said.

“I’ve loved every minute with the club so far and I’ve formed some special relationships with my team-mates, so to know I’ll be here next season is awesome.

“Having that sorted for next year is great and now I can just concentrate on performing for the club and doing my best for the team as we aim to win Vodafone Super Rugby AU.

“Beyond next year will take care of itself, but I certainly plan to be in Canberra for a long time.”

Brumbies head coach Dan McKellar said: “We’re delighted Tom is staying with our group next season.

“At the start of the year, myself and assistant coach Peter Hewat sat down with Wrighty to talk about potential opportunities for game time and we all felt he could excel on the wing and he’s been outstanding for us this season.

“He’s a genuine game changer, someone who can cut open a defence at any time and for a young man, his communication on the field and just how he conducts himself in our environment is a real positive for our group and club.

“Off the field, he’s a really popular member of the squad and we hope to see him in a Brumbies jersey and even potentially Wallaby gold for years to come.”
