Tigers wing wary of Marcus Smith threat

Leicester Tigers wing Jordan Olowofela believes his side need to contain Harlequins fly-half Marcus Smith when the teams clash on Friday.

Olowofela, 21, played alongside Smith at England age-grade level and realises the threat the playmaker poses ahead of the Stoop showdown.

“He’s a class player,” the wing told Leicester Tigers’ website, with Quins currently in fifth place on the Premiership table. “He obviously has a lot of talent at this young age.

“You see where Harlequins are in the table, and he’s been right at the front of that in moving his team around the field and getting the points in.

“He’s really hard-working and definitely doesn’t mess about.”

Leicester come into this game on the back of a home defeat to Bristol Bears and are not yet safe from relegation with two matches left.

“The mood was pretty low after that Bristol game, but you’ve got to snap out of it pretty quickly and get back onto the next job,” admitted Olowofela.

“Our Monday morning sessions are always pretty open and honest, and we spoke about the bad bits as well as the good bits, and what we can take through into the next game.

“I think we’re in the right state of mind for the challenge of Quins on Friday.

“Obviously we want to win, but it’s not just that. As a club, we want to prove everybody wrong.”
