Thompson makes Manawatu switch

Manawatu Turbos have captured the signature of another local star back to the province with the acquisition of Rob Thompson from Canterbury.

Thompson, who plays Super Rugby with the Highlanders, had been with Canterbury since 2013 in the Mitre 10 Cup, but will now join Manawatu.

The addition of Thompson continues a trend of players returning to the region.

In 2017, Manawatu signed promising prop Sean Paranihi, a Tu Toa old boy, back from Canterbury. And in 2016, they got Jackson Hemopo back from Otago.
