Super Rugby: Team of Round 14

Another round of Super Rugby gone, but which players made their presence felt? It's time for our Team of the Week!
Another round of Super Rugby gone, but which players made their presence felt? It's time for our Team of the Week!
A mix of the old and the new in our selections this week with five players making an appearance for the first time this season.
No teams dominating this time round after wins for the Stormers (three), Waratahs (three), Crusaders (two), Cheetahs (two) and Bulls (two). While the draw between the Force and the Brumbies wasn't overlooked either.
15 Kurtley Beale (Waratahs): Opened the try-scoring for the Waratahs in the very first minute of the match against the Lions. Didn't score any more after that, but played a hand in two others. Kicking not up to scratch, but other than that a pretty solid performance.
14 Henry Speight (Brumbies): Kept the Force on their toes all night with some hard and elusive running – made his presence felt early on with a super try for the Brumbies.
13 Johann Sadie (Stormers): The Stormers' management said this guy had the X factor and they weren't wrong, with the young rookie responsible for one of the greatest Super Rugby comebacks ever.
12 Juan de Jongh (Stormers): Combined well with Sadie in the Stormers' midfield missing Springbok duo Jaque Fourie and Jean de Villiers – but De Jongh is a proven Bok himself, and showed exactly why with a strong performance.
11 Sosene Anesi (Waratahs): A brace of touchdowns for the Waratahs, coupled with some tackle-busting runs made it pretty hard for us to leave this New Zealand-born speedster out.
10 Dan Carter (Crusaders): It came down to a coin toss between Carter and the Bulls' Morne Steyn, with the All Black pivot eventually winning the nod. Carter's performance was vindication of New Zealand Rugby's decision to hand him a new four-year deal earlier this month. The number ten's influence on the game extended beyond his kicking, but it was his trademark accuracy which did the damage with six penalties from eight and a drop goal. Oh, and it was tails!
9 Fourie du Preez (Bulls): Du Preez's top notch performance against the Sharks came at a huge cost after the Bok number nine was ruled out for the rest of the tournament. The Bulls need to win all their games to stand any chance of making the play-offs, and Du Preez was the general in charge of their win over the Sharks.
8 Kieran Read (Crusaders): The All Blacks star is in the form of his life, repeatedly hitting the heights in the Crusaders number eight jersey. His astonishing work-rate and enviable skills make him a handful for any opponent.
7 Ashley Johnson (Cheetahs): Yet another man-of-the-match performance for the Cheetahs. Johnson is hitting all the high notes for a place in South Africa's 30-man World Cup squad…
6 Schalk Burger (Stormers): Condemned the Blues to a heartbreaking loss with a match-winning try two minutes from full-time. Try aside, Burger was excellent as he rallied his team in the second stanza to a memorable win.
5 Sam Wykes (Force): The lock partner to Nathan Sharpe has proved to be one of the Western Force's unsung heroes this season, putting in one top-drawer display after another.
4 Bakkies Botha (Bulls): He's had a quiet season up until now, but Botha was back to his typical physical self. A few more outings like this and Botha's return to full potency will be complete.
3 John Afoa (Blues): Was at his dynamic best against the Stormers, dominating every facet of forward play.
2 Adriaan Strauss (Cheetahs): Another Cheetahs player that has put his hand up for Bok selection after every match played.
1 Benn Robinson (Waratahs): Showed a lot of scrummaging power against a team who are no pushovers up-front, and made life very uncomfortable for the Lions front row.
