The Super 14 teams of the Cheetahs and the Sharks will play one another on January 24 next year in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Sport promoter Willem Strauss confirmed that the two South African franchises have accepted the invitation to play a Super 14 warm-up game in Abu Dhabi.

“There are tens of thousands of South Africans working and living in the UAE and both these South African sides have a huge support base in the UAE” said Strauss.

“The possibility of playing a game in Abu Dhabi is an exciting prospect which we look forward to. The players are always travelling to New Zealand and Australia.”

This is the first time a Super 14 warm-up game will take place in Abu Dhabi.

“The opportunity to tour this amazing country is something we don't want to miss” said Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske.
