Sunday Social: Six Nations fallout and nice gestures
It is time for Planet Rugby’s Sunday Social, your quirky recap of the serious and not so serious talking points from the past week’s action.
We start off with the Calcutta Cup clash which was played in awful conditions. Swirling wind and torrential rain made it incredibly difficult for the players, but we reckon England boss Eddie Jones would have still been disappointed with one aspect of their display.

Scotland also struggled with the conditions and some people saw the irony after Scotland threatened legal action at the World Cup should their game against Japan have been cancelled due to Typhoon Hagibis.
For a team who were so desperate to play in a typhoon, Scotland don’t look that good at dealing with the weather.

Interestingly, the women’s Six Nations clash has been cancelled due to Storm Ciara,

Ultimately, Scottish hearts were broken once again as they relinquished the Calcutta Cup and succumbed to their second defeat of this year’s Six Nations.

This was not good to see, however. It is one thing being hostile but these obscene gestures are just not necessary.

Scotland also had the support of Ireland and Wales as the two sets of supporters watched the game in a pub afterwards, but it was not enough as England claimed a 13-6 win.

The player that produced the decisive moment in that game was prop Ellis Genge, who once again made an impressive impact off the bench.

Another front-rower to show his qualities in the loose was Ireland’s Tadhg Furlong, who touched down in their 24-14 victory over Wales.

Despite the ferocious action on the field, you always have to look presentable before and after the match if you’re Alun-Wyn Jones.

During the encounter, both captains, Jones and Johnny Sexton, did their best to referee the game for Romain Poite, with the Irishman getting particularly irate at times.

And Sexton’s actions were perfectly described by this…

Away from the action on Saturday, there was a nice story to come out of France’s game against England last weekend.
Really lovely anecdote about Joe Marler after Le Crunch.
Following the game, Marler went to speak to the French coaches to ask about opposing tighthead Mohamed Haouas who was on debut.
He then went to the changing room to have a beer with Haouas and give him his jersey. 1/2 https://t.co/D0awt8veM6

This was also a lovely moment from Round One…

Meanwhile, in Super Rugby, the Chiefs have started superbly under new head coach Warren Gatland, defeating champions Crusaders for their second successive win this season.

It has also been a good weekend for the Blues. They defeated the Waratahs 32-12 and England international Joe Marchant, who is on loan from Harlequins for the 2020 campaign, scored his first try for the franchise.
Have you heard about @bluesrugbyteam's new centre? Joe Marchant, remember the name.
