Sunday Social: Sir Bill, Perry wed and Ward fallout

Adam Kyriacou

It is time for Planet Rugby’s Sunday Social, your quirky recap of the serious and not so serious talking points from the weekend’s action.

There was good news for rugby in the New Year’s honours list as former England captain Bill Beaumont was knighted while former Ireland captain Willie John McBride became a CBE.

Former Scotland second-row Doddie Weir was also honoured with an OBE…

And he celebrated it with a trip to Scotstoun.

Congratulations are also in order for USA Sevens star Perry Baker, who got married yesterday.

Speaking of special days and Sale enjoyed an impressive win on the road and when they score tries like this, many more victories should come.

Unfortunately on a sour note there could be some repercussions for Harlequins forward Dave Ward as there has been an allegation that he spat at a Wasps player as well as performing a neck roll and stamp.

Needless to say it did not go down well with former player and now pundit Andy Goode…
