Sunday Social: Seeing red, winning feeling and dad jokes

It is time for Planet Rugby’s Sunday Social, your quirky recap of the serious and not so serious talking points from the past week’s action.

Unsurprisingly much of the talk yesterday on social media was centred on Owen Farrell after his red card for Saracens against Wasps. Here, BT Sport pundit Lawrence Dallaglio gives his view on the tackle and how it is highly likely to rule him out of the upcoming Champions Cup quarter-final against high-flying Leinster.

There’s been plenty of criticism of Farrell from disgruntled supporters from rival countries around the world, which we won’t re-publish, but this dubbing over of the infamous rugby league commentary from Graham Love is worth a share. Staying in England and that Saracens v Wasps clash, this was a funny bit of editing from FAB Rugby of referee Christophe Ridley doing his thing on steel drums.

The match itself saw Wasps come out on top in a massive victory in their push for honours in the Premiership. Here they are celebrating in their changing room.

There was also a huge win for Ulster on Saturday as a late Ian Madigan penalty helped them beat Edinburgh, booking their spot in a PRO14 final against Leinster.

The game in New Zealand this weekend was of course the North versus South clash in Wellington. What a finish it was. Here’s the South’s bench reaction to winning.

It was effectively a trial for the All Blacks and on Sunday the lucky 35 men were revealed. Their Twitter account gave this behind the scenes look at the newbies.

It seems that Gifs are already being saved by their social media account as here’s fly-half Richie Mo’unga and wing Sevu Reece doing some sort of shake routine.

Heading back to England now but with a touch of American thrown in, here’s Harlequins outside centre Joe Marchant showing he could probably make it in the NFL.

Some comedy to finish now with Bristol Bears flanker Dan Thomas seemingly causing his social media team problems whenever they want to create serious content.

Continuing that theme and with it being Father’s Day in Australia, Fiji, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand, here’s some great dad jokes from the latter country.
