Sunday Social: Lambie tributes, CR7 and a proposal
It is time for Planet Rugby’s Sunday Social, your quirky recap of the serious and not so serious talking points from the weekend’s action.
We begin with the sad news that broke on Saturday as former Springbok fly-half Pat Lambie confirmed he has retired with immediate effect. Unsurprisingly the tributes have poured in for the Sharks favourite.
Great attitude Pat. Not surprised to see you react like that. Such quality. Will be some addition to whatever group is lucky enough to get you. Well done. Fantastic career. Better person. https://t.co/2bzc3VIQfN

Switching to the action and Round 6 of the Champions Cup was the focus on Friday and Saturday. It’s been a good weekend for Ireland so far as Munster, Leinster, Ulster and Connacht book knockout spots.
All four Irish provinces now into the European quarter-finals.
Big boost heading into the Six Nations.

Not so much for the Welsh regions…
Been covering European Cup from the start in 1995. Cannot recall a collective Welsh failure on such a scale. Four teams, played 24, won 7, lost 17. Talk about making up the numbers.

Munster fly-half Joey Carbery continues to do his thing off the kicking tee as he landed his 20th successive attempt at goal for his team.

Racing 92 wing Simon Zebo went all Cristiano Ronaldo with his celebration in a thrilling game against Scarlets that saw nine tries scored.

In the Challenge Cup there were two teams that racked up 100+ points as both Bristol Bears and Northampton Saints dominated their matches.
In other news, Saints are 111-3 in their first innings v Timisoara Saracens in the Challenge Cup. The pitch is wearing and TS are hoping the spinners play a big role on the last day. 😧

Finally we have some romance to finish as there was an engagement to celebrate at Welford Road on Saturday. Congratulations to this pair.
