Sunday Social: French farce, top tries and Wayne’s world

It is time for Planet Rugby’s Sunday Social, your quirky recap of the serious and not so serious talking points from the past week’s action.

We start with one of the most incredible endings to a game you will see when Colomiers faced Biarritz in the Pro D2. The hosts were leading 16-15 with the visiting team pushing for a winning try when chaos ensued. Biarritz looked to keep the ball alive while Colomiers were hoping to kick it dead, but it ultimately ended with the away side winning the match. Just watch…

In France’s top-tier there was also a remarkable finish when Nathanael Hulleu scored this late match-winning try, despite Alivereti Raka’s awful high shot on the Bordeaux-Begles player.

Heading over to Italy and there was another dramatic ending with JJ Hanrahan kicking a drop-goal with the clock in the red to win the game for Munster against Benetton in the PRO14.

Meanwhile, in the Premiership, Bristol Bears were in stunning form and once again that man Semi Radradra was to the fore, scoring this outstanding try. The best player in the world?

On Saturday, there was a much-needed win for Northampton Saints, who have struggled since the restart. They haven’t played too many matches recently, however, which of course means they remain unbeaten in 2021.

It is not long until the 2021 Six Nations starts and England celebrated 150 years since the first ever rugby international between them and Scotland, and they produced this excellent video to mark the occasion.

The current English side displayed their all-round sporting ability during the week with hooker Luke Cowan-Dickie blasting a penalty into the top corner.

It is not just England who have the skills, though, with Scotland’s Finn Russell – who else? – rather showing off in this clip:

Cowan-Dickie’s front-row partner Joe Marler has been active on social media, although many wished he wasn’t. We’ve shared this but we’re sort of regretting it….

Quickly putting what you’ve just seen out of your mind, here’s something far more pleasing on the eye with FAB Rugby imagining the Premiership teams as Formula One cars. It’s very impressive work.

Finally, Wayne Barnes was busy during the week with his new hobby, but his wife, Polly, was not impressed.
