Sunday Social: Finn Russell, Fijian flair and familiar faces
It is time for Planet Rugby’s Sunday Social, your quirky recap of the serious and not so serious talking points from the past week’s action.
After the Saracens scandal was followed up by the report being made public, the Premiership club had some of the unwanted glare taken off them this week when Scotland fly-half Finn Russell was sent home from a pre-Six Nations camp. As the below tweet suggests, Saracens were probably delighted by the news as a punished Russell departed.
Sarries: right lads, we’re the biggest rugby shock of the week
Finn Russell: hold my beer

Worcester Warriors fly-half Duncan Weir was the player called up in Russell’s place, which offered Graham Love a chance to re-post this video, with the original of course centred on the career of All Black Dan Carter.

On the field, this week’s action began at Franklin’s Gardens and although Northampton lost to London Irish, we’re still struggling to fathom how Cobus Reinach managed to get to Ollie Hassell-Collins. Incredible speed.
Incredible defence from Cobus Reinach! 💪
Somehow he's forced the knock-on 🤯
But was it a high tackle? 🤔

Earlier this week and the Six Nations launch saw England captain Owen Farrell come face to face with Ireland head coach, and father, Andy. There is definitely a caption competition as these are some priceless reactions.

In the Sevens game the Kenya Men’s team were once again excellent value as they prepared for the tournament in Hamilton.

On Day One in New Zealand, this score was right out of the top drawer from Fiji, who showed they can strike from anywhere.

Although they battled on the field, Brazil’s Women’s Sevens team proved to be a hit off it with their very own haka at the Hamilton Sevens.

On a serious note, however, it was impossible not to be moved by this emotional interview with Munster player Billy Holland and his wife Lanlih. Such an incredibly sad time for all of the family as they look to raise funds.

Staying in Europe and it was a somewhat baffling decision from European Professional Club Rugby to schedule two Champions Cup quarter-finals at the same time on Saturday, April 4. What a shame for the viewing public.
