Sunday Social: Dances, Star Wars and a late, great

David Skippers

It is time for Planet Rugby’s Sunday Social, your quirky recap of the serious and not so serious talking points from the past week’s action.

Another week without rugby for the game’s global family, but they continue to come up with innovative ways to stay active during this down period.

We begin in Wales, where Scarlets back-row Uzair Cassiem showed that he is a man with more than one talent as he took his wife for a waltz in their kitchen.

Not to be outdone is USA Sevens flyer Perry Baker, who showed off some more energetic dance moves.

In New Zealand, Star Wars’ Jedi Master, Yoda, was revealed as the one who gave former Crusaders fly-half Dan Carter some assistance in getting this outrageous place-kick through the posts.

Staying with the Star Wars theme, there were some UFOs spotted flying over Kingspan Stadium in Belfast.

Elsewhere, Leinster duo and housemates Will Connors and Jimmy O’Brien have spent their time under lockdown studying hard for exams. Connors showed what they get up to when they take a break from revising.

Heading down south, there was plenty of reaction to Super Rugby’s Cue Ball XV – a combined team with several very shiny heads.

England Rugby announced last week that Umbro will become their official technical kit partner from September 1. Bristol and former England back-row Jordan Crane is excited by the news and is keen for his country to go for a retro 90s football look.

Meanwhile, several Wasps players used a TikTok video to score this brilliant try.

Veteran Dragons and Wales hooker Richard Hibbard proves that he is right up there with skillful playmakers like Carlos Spencer and Quade Cooper when it comes to trick-shots.

And finally, the World Rugby guys took us down memory lane with this footage of the game’s first global superstar, the late, great Jonah Lomu.
