South Africa add Paris title to superb Series

South Africa celebrated their first Series title since 2009 in style by defeating Scotland 15-5 in the final of the Paris Sevens on Sunday.

The win was South Africa's fifth title of the Series, after triumphing in Dubai, Wellington, Sydney and Las Vegas, with the Blitzbokke getting revenge over Scotland in the final after the Scots got the upper hand in their match on Day One.

Despite an excellent weekend which included defeating Fiji (24-0) and then England on their route to the final, Scotland could not pull off what would have been a famous triumph.

Elsewhere, New Zealand took the Bronze medal after getting the better of England, while the USA came fifth following their win over last year's Paris winners Samoa.

Argentina claimed the Challenge Trophy after a 33-12 win over Australia, with 13th place going to Japan.

Springbok Sevens coach Neil Powell said: "We want to make South Africa proud and hopefully this will help towards that."
