Sharks lose Tendai Mtawarira to injury

The Sharks suffered a blow ahead of their Super Rugby quarter-final against the Brumbies after prop Tendai Mtawarira was ruled out through injury.
The 33-year-old Springbok was named in the Sharks’ starting line-up to play in their 12-9 win over the Stormers in Cape Town last Saturday but withdrew ahead of that match with a knee injury.
Sharks head coach Robert du Preez named a 27-man squad for their trip to Canberra for Saturday’s play-off with the Brumbies but Mtawarira was not included in the group.
Loose forwards Philip van der Walt and Jean-Luc du Preez have also not been passed fit to play, although hooker Craig Burden has been included after picking up a hamstring tweak that ruled him out of the Stormers match.
Springbok utility back Curwin Bosch, who also missed the Stormers game, is now fully fit and was named in the squad.
