Semi Radradra: Fiji captain and Bristol centre ruled out until next season

Bristol director of rugby Pat Lam has announced that knee surgery for Semi Radradra will spell the end of the centre’s Premiership season.

The Fijian captain has been struggling for two weeks but will now receive medical attention after the Bears made their Champions Cup exit following a 35-29 loss to Sale Sharks to seal an aggregate defeat in the Round-of-16 second leg.

Bristol’s season is all but over with a Premiership play-off spot out of reach with four games remaining, as the Bears sit 10th overall in the standings.

Lam admitted that this was the reason Radradra‘s surgery was brought forward.

2022/23 vision

Lam said: “It was time to get it done ready for next season.

“Semi is having knee surgery this week, that is season-ending for him but it gives him a good chance to rehab, recoup and be ready for the start of next season which is a positive for him.

“The beauty about it is it will all be cleaned up and he will be ready for next season.”
