Sale Sharks bolster front row stocks

Sale Sharks have announced the signing of tighthead prop WillGriff John from Championship outfit Doncaster Knights.

Born in Plymouth, 24-year-old John started his playing career at Pontypridd as well as representing Wales at all junior levels.

He also played for Cardiff Blues before moving to New Zealand and played for two seasons in the NPC with Northland.

John then returned to the UK and joined Doncaster in the Championship in November 2014 where he has been one of the leading props in the competition over the last three years.

He was a member of the 2012 Wales U20 World Cup squad that finished third in the competition and helped inflict the first ever defeat on the New Zealand U20's since the competitions formation.

Sale Sharks director of rugby Steve Diamond said: "WillGriff is a great signing for us and I look forward to working with him. He has been one of the most consistent performers in the Championship and is a good ball carrier who also works hard in defence.”
