Another busy day in the rugby union game as we look back at the action in the World Cup semi-finals and name our best XV from the matches that took place.

What’s on the site

England and South Africa deservedly claimed their places in the Rugby World Cup final this weekend with victories over New Zealand and Wales respectively, and the two teams unsurprisingly dominate our Team of the Week.

Those sides are also featured in ‘Who’s hot and who’s not,’ which delves into the main talking points from the past seven days, including impressive Premiership wins for Northampton Saints and Gloucester.

Finally, check out this article, which looks at five unforgettable matches between the Red Rose and the Springboks ahead of their encounter in Yokohama on Saturday.

What’s in the news

England boss Eddie Jones has hit back at Warren Gatland, in which the Wales head coach suggested that the Red Rose may have peaked for the New Zealand contest.

Jones’ men certainly had plenty to celebrate at the weekend after ousting the defending champions, and they now go into the showpiece event as the number one side in the world.

This is a nice story ahead of the final with Sale Sharks allowing flanker Ben Curry to miss their game with Bristol so he can fly to Japan to watch twin brother, Tom, in the showpiece event.

What’s on TV

The 2019 Rugby World Cup ends this weekend as England and South Africa battle for the title in Yokohama. Once again it will be on ITV, while the channel will also broadcast the third place play-off between Wales and New Zealand.

Away from the global tournament, the Premiership has reached Round Three and BT Sport will continue their coverage with Friday night’s game between Northampton and Harlequins.

Elsewhere, the PRO14 continues on Premier Sports with Round Five as the Scarlets and Cheetahs go head-to-head in the standout contest.
