Rugby Union Today: Wales v Scotland called off

Another busy day in the rugby union game as Wales’ encounter against Scotland was postponed just 24 hours prior to kick-off in Cardiff.
What’s on the site
There will be no Six Nations games on what is usually dubbed ‘Super Saturday’ after Wales’ clash with Scotland was called off due to coronavirus fears. The Welsh Rugby Union initially stated that the fixture was definitely going ahead earlier on Friday but performed an abrupt U-turn to postpone the clash.
At the moment, there is one match that is taking place in the northern hemisphere this weekend as Sale Sharks host Harlequins in the Premiership Rugby Cup final and we have previewed the encounter.
Meanwhile, in Super Rugby, there was an exciting contest in Hamilton as the Hurricanes edged the Chiefs. You can also find highlights of that game, which saw Jordie Barrett kick a late penalty to win it, on the site.
What’s in the news
Harlequins believe that Joe Marler’s suspension is harsh after the loosehead prop received a 10-week ban for fondling Alun Wyn Jones’ genitals. Marler will now miss a key part of Quins’ season as they attempt to win the Premiership Rugby Cup and reach the top-four in their domestic league.
Elsewhere, South African international and Bath legend Francois Louw has announced that he will retire from the game at the end of the season. Louw has spent nine years with the West Country outfit and has earned 76 caps for the Springboks, which included being part of the 2019 World Cup-winning squad.
Finally, Sale Sharks have made an astute addition by bringing in centre Sam Hill from Exeter Chiefs. Hill came through the ranks at Exeter but the 26-year-old is seeking a new challenge after agreeing to join the Sharks.
