Rugby Union Today: Teams named for November Tests

Another busy day in the rugby union game as the respective countries named their sides for week four of the November internationals.

What’s on the site

It was all about the team news for the upcoming Tests and England made a couple of interesting selections for their game against the Wallabies. Jamie George has been given another opportunity to start at hooker, meaning Dylan Hartley is on the bench, while Manu Tuilagi is in the 23 after pulling out before the South Africa contest.

For the Wallabies, David Pocock is fit, despite concerns over an injury picked up against Italy, and he is joined in the back-row by Michael Hooper and Jack Dempsey.

The other big game of the weekend sees Wales take on South Africa and the hosts have unsurprisingly made a number of changes from the side that faced Tonga, with Liam Williams the standout selection at full-back. The Springboks, meanwhile, have stuck to the formula which saw them overcome Scotland last weekend, with the visitors unchanged for the first time this season.

What’s in the news

In the other international games, New Zealand have altered their line-up for the clash with Italy, France have made two changes to face Fiji, while Rhys Ruddock will captain Ireland against the USA.

Elsewhere, World Rugby’s chief executive Brett Gosper has called for referees to hand out more red and yellow cards following the controversies which have engulfed the sport this month.

What’s on TV

It is once again a packed schedule this weekend with the November internationals continuing and Sky Sports will show England’s clash against Australia.

On the BBC, they have two matches, with Scotland v Argentina and Wales v South Africa being shown, while Ireland take on the USA on Channel 4.

Elsewhere, Premier Sports have Italy hosting New Zealand and France facing Fiji, as well as Round Nine of the PRO14.

Finally, the English Premiership continues on BT Sport and Worcester Warriors v Harlequins and Leicester Tigers v Saracens are the featured games.
