Another busy day in the rugby union game as we take a look at the best players from the weekend’s Super Rugby action and name our XV.

What’s on the site

The Sharks and Brumbies picked up excellent results in Super Rugby at the weekend and that is reflected in the Team of the Week.

In ‘who’s hot and who’s not,’ there was plenty to discuss with Samoa qualifying for the World Cup and the red cards handed out to Ed Quirk and Johnny Faauli.

There is also a quiz on Jerome Kaino as the All Blacks legend prepares to end his career in New Zealand by going overseas to play for Toulouse in the Top 14.

What’s in the news

Amanaki Mafi has been released on bail after being arrested because of an incident which took place following the Rebels’ Super Rugby defeat to the Highlanders, where he allegedly assaulted team-mate Lopeti Timani.

Continuing in the southern hemisphere and SANZAAR are to review their TMO process after some controversial calls. One of those saw the Sunwolves’ Ed Quirk red carded for an offence most in the game deemed minor, and he has since received a two-week ban.

Caleb Timu was also handed a suspension for an incident in the same match while in more positive news, Jordie Barrett and Ardie Savea have signed new deals with the Hurricanes and New Zealand Rugby.

The Sevens World Cup begins on Friday and the official Twitter account is doing their bit to promote the event in San Francisco.

What’s on TV

Super Rugby has reached the knockout stages and Sky Sports will show all four games from the Qualifiers. It starts with the Hurricanes v Chiefs on Friday before the Crusaders, Waratahs and Lions take on the Sharks, Highlanders and Jaguares respectively a day later.

With the Sevens World Cup taking place this weekend, ITV will show highlights from the event.
