Rugby Union Today: Super Rugby previews, Video of the Week
Another busy day in the rugby union game as we publish previews for our opening Super Rugby games as well as having a guide to the tournament in Video of the Week.
What’s on the site
Super Rugby is set to kick-off on Saturday, February 17 and we have previews for the two matches in the opening round. The tournament kicks off in Cape Town where the Stormers host the Jaguares before the Lions and Sharks face off in Johannesburg.
With the Six Nations taking a break, club rugby action returns in the Premiership, PRO14 and Top 14 and we take a look ahead to Super Rugby with our Video of the Week.
What’s in the news
The Hurricanes have announced their Super Rugby squad and the biggest surprise is the omission of All Blacks hooker Asafo Aumua who was left out of due to poor conditioning.
Elsewhere, Tadhg Furlong, Iain Henderson and James Ryan look set to recover from injury in time for Ireland’s Six Nations clash with Wales in nine days time.

Munster announced that they have re-signed utility backs Andrew Conway and Stephen Fitzgerald on two-year and one-year deals respectively.

What’s on TV
The Six Nations takes a break but Super Rugby begins this weekend and Sky Sports are showing the Stormers-Jaguares and Lions-Sharks matches. They also have two games each from the PRO14 and Top 14.
Meanwhile, BT Sport have three matches from the Aviva Premiership with Sale-Saracens, Leicester-Harlequins and Wasps-Exeter all being televised.
