It was an exciting final round of the Rugby Championship at the weekend, despite the competition already being decided, and we have named our Team of the Tournament.
Those two encounters in the southern hemisphere’s premier competition also threw up plenty of talking points and they are discussed in ‘who’s hot and who’s not.’ That feature also looks at Europe’s big leagues, where Connacht’s landmark win over Ulster is mentioned, as well as Lyon’s impressive triumph over Racing 92.
Finally, check out highlights from the three main domestic competitions in the northern hemisphere, where there were some excellent games in the PRO14 and Premiership, although it was a slightly disappointing week in the Top 14.
What’s in the news
New Zealand will take a 51-man squad to Japan as they prepare to face Australia in the third Bledisloe Cup game in Tokyo.
Elsewhere in the southern hemisphere, Michael Cheika will face the Rugby Australia board following a disappointing Rugby Championship in which they just avoided finishing bottom.
Meanwhile, Connacht have unveiled plans to redevelop the Sportsground, which will cost 30m euros and will increase the capacity of the stadium in Galway to 12,000
What’s on social media
Connacht tweeted a video of what the Sportsground will look like when it is redeveloped.
💬🏟 | Our vision for The Sportsground will ensure that the West of Ireland has a stadium which future generations of sports stars, supporters and all the people of Connacht can be immensely proud of.
