Rugby Union Today: Expert Witness with England great
PETER WINTERBOTTOM [ENG] CLASHES WITH MIKE HALL [WAL]. WALES v ENGLAND
Another busy day in the rugby union game as Peter Winterbottom discussed all things Wales v England ahead of Saturday’s clash in the Autumn Nations Cup.
What’s on the site
One of England’s great openside flankers, Peter Winterbottom, returned as our Expert Witness to talk about the upcoming encounter between Wales and England in the Autumn Nations Cup. The former back-row believes that the Red Rose will emerge triumphant but insists that it will be tighter than many have suggested.
Continuing with the Wales-England theme, Welsh wing Josh Adams concedes that there is currently a large gap between them and their arch rivals, but is adamant that they can bridge it this weekend.
Elsewhere, we look at some of Ma’a Nonu’s best World Cup moments. The New Zealand legend played in three global tournaments and was a key part of the All Blacks’ wins in 2011 and ’15.
What’s in the news
Joe Marler may play a big part in England’s game against Wales after recovering from injury. The loosehead prop hasn’t played Test rugby since being banned for 10 weeks for grabbing Alun Wyn Jones’ testicles and those two could duly go head-to-head once again this weekend.
Meanwhile, Ireland captain James Ryan insists that they are not far from the world’s best teams, despite their recent struggles against the top sides.
Finally, Australia coach Scott Wisemantel says that they will continue with their ball-in-hand approach. Even though a number of countries have adopted risk-averse game plans, Wisemantel is adamant that having a positive mindset is the way to go.
What’s on social media
Wales will be hoping to shock England this weekend, just like they did in 2008.
