Another busy day in the rugby union game as the Chiefs secured their place in the Super Rugby quarter-finals following a dominant victory over the Rebels.
What’s on the site
Despite losing their first four games of the season, the Chiefs have given themselves a shot of winning the 2019 Super Rugby title after producing an impressive display to defeat the Rebels 59-8 in Melbourne.
There are highlights of that game, as well as the other match between the Highlanders and Waratahs, here.
Elsewhere, we look ahead to the thrilling Top 14 final in ‘the short side,’ which sees the top-two from the regular season go head-to-head when Toulouse take on Clermont Auvergne at the Stade de France.
What’s in the news
Influential Springbok hooker Malcolm Marx has committed his future to South African rugby until at least 2021 after signing a new deal, which includes a sabbatical in Japan following the World Cup.
Meanwhile, Munster have confirmed the appointment of coach Stephen Larkham after he was sacked from his position within the Australian set-up earlier in the year.
Larkham’s former boss, Michael Cheika, has also made headlines today having broken his silence on the Israel Folau saga, stating that ‘something had to give.’
Finishing in Australia and there was further disappointing news for sport in the country with Samu Kerevi confirming that he will leave the Reds for Japan and Tolu Latu facing the consequences for his drink driving charge.

It was a stunning performance from the Chiefs to reach the Super Rugby quarters and this was one of their best tries.

What’s on TV
The Top 14 concludes this weekend when Toulouse and Clermont Auvergne, who finished in the top-two during the regular season, go head-to-head on Sky Sports in what should be a thrilling final in Paris.
That channel also broadcasts all the Super Rugby action as the competition reaches the final round. The Conference winners have been decided but it is very tight in the race for the other play-off positions.
