Another busy day in the rugby union game as there was significant team news involving the number 10s for Scotland, Ireland and Australia.

What’s on the site

Johnny Sexton has recovered from injury to take his place in the Ireland XV to face Scotland this weekend. Sexton was taken off against Wales, missing the encounters with England and Georgia, but has returned for the clash with the Scots.

He will come up against a debutant in the shape of Edinburgh’s South African-born pivot Jaco van der Walt. He starts ahead of Duncan Weir and is among six changes to the line-up from their game versus France.

Elsewhere, the domestic action in Europe continues on Friday and we have previewed the games in the Premiership, where Bristol face Northampton, and the PRO14, which sees Connacht and Benetton go head-to-head in the rearranged match.

What’s in the news

Argentina’s governing body, the UAR, have decided to rescind the suspensions of Pablo Matera, Guido Petti and Santiago Socino. Matera had also been sacked from the captaincy role, but the flanker has now been reinstated.

Los Pumas will take on Australia this weekend and they named their side for Saturday’s encounter, with those three players missing for the Tri Nations game.

The Wallabies also selected their squad and they were boosted by the return of the experienced James O’Connor, who is back at fly-half for Dave Rennie’s men.

The third round of the Premiership kicks off with Bristol Bears v Northampton Saints on BT Sport, who show all of that competition over the weekend. Elsewhere in the domestic game, there is the PRO14 on Premier Sports, starting on Friday with Connacht v Benetton.

The Autumn Nations Cup comes to a conclusion this week with Ireland v Scotland and Wales v Italy taking place on Saturday before England host France in the final on Sunday. All of those games will be shown on Amazon Prime Video Sport. In the Tri Nations on Saturday, Australia and Argentina face off in Sydney, live on Sky Sports.
