Robertson – ‘Todd an absolute work horse’
Crusaders head coach Scott Robertson has paid tribute to Matt Todd's professionalism ahead of his 100th Super Rugby game this weekend.
Todd is set to reach the milestone when the Crusaders clash with the Cheetahs at Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
Despite often playing second fiddle to All Black and Crusaders legend Richie McCaw earlier in his career, Todd has never stopped plugging away and Robertson has hailed his dedication to the cause and work-ethic.
"Matt is an absolute work horse who gives full energy and commitment every time he takes the field," Robertson told the Crusaders official website.
"It wouldn’t matter if it was his first game or his 100th.
"We loved celebrating his Crusaders milestone with him last week and it will be special to see him notch up the tonne again this week in respect to Super Rugby games."
Meanwhile, a modest Todd has revealed while it is a special achievement, it is one he is more likely to reflect on when his career is over.
"I grew up watching the Crusaders and dreaming of playing for them, so to be able to play 100 games is certainly a nice achievement I guess," Todd, 29, told Stuff.
"It's probably something you look back on more, when you stop playing."
And Todd, who has been capped eight times by the All Blacks, has warned his teammates that the Cheetahs are fast starters as they proved against the Chiefs almost two weeks ago.
"It has been mentioned. They really fly out of the blocks. So we know we have to start well. If you give them too much ball in a good position, they will make you pay."
