Rieko Ioane is one of nine All Blacks released from the squad in order to play for their respective Mitre 10 Cup side this weekend.

Wing Ioane, who has been struggling for form of late, will run out for Auckland against Bay of Plenty at Eden Park in Auckland on Saturday.

His spot on the left wing was taken by George Bridge against Australia last week and the Crusaders man grabbed his chance with both hands, which means Ioane will be desperate to put in a strong showing in New Zealand’s domestic competition to cement his Rugby World Cup spot.

Other players released for Mitre 10 Cup action include Brad Weber (Hawke’s Bay) and Liam Coltman and Josh Ioane (Otago) for their match in Napier and Vaea Fifita (Wellington) and Braydon Ennor (Canterbury), who are set to face off in the game at Westpac Stadium in Wellington.

Atu Moli (Tasman) and Jackson Hemopo (Manawatu) will also clash at Lansdowne Park this Saturday, while Luke Jacobson will play for Waikato.

New Zealand’s squad for the Rugby World Cup is named on August 28. They face Tonga in Hamilton on September 7 before flying out to Japan.
