Rennie sings Donald’s praises

Chiefs head coach Dave Rennie hailed veteran inside centre Stephen Donald's performance in Saturday's 17-11 win over the Stormers in Cape Town.

In a low-scoring quarter-final, in which both sides scored a try apiece, Donald caught the eye with two superb line breaks in the first half.

The 33-year-old was forced off the field late in the match but his impact on attack impressed Rennie who said the former All Black had been hugely influential on and off the field for the Chiefs this year.

“He’s been great for us," Rennie told Fox Sports

"You know what you get from Beaver, he’s going to ask some questions of the defence, he’s going to run hard.

“I thought he was fantastic (in Cape Town) and that was the reason we brought him back.

“He’s contributing nicely whether it’s at 10 or 12 and he’ll be involved in some way in our next game.”
