Reds back-row cited for foul play

The Reds could be without back-row Angus Scott-Young for their South African tour after he was cited for alleged foul play in their win against the Brumbies on Sunday. 

Scott-Young is alleged to have struck Brumbies prop and former Reds team-mate James Slipper in the head after entering a ruck late in the first half.

While no action was taken on field, SANZAAR’s citing commissioner deemed the incident “had met the red card threshold for foul play.”

SANZAAR’s foul play review committee is likely to also examine his follow through with a knee in the same play.

Scott-Young is alleged to have contravened law 9.12: a player must not physically abuse anyone.

A suspension of more than two weeks could rule Scott-Young out of the Reds’ South African tour for games against the Bulls and Sharks, while he will miss the crucial derby against the Rebels on Saturday if he is suspended at all.

Slipper left the ground for a HIA but later returned after being cleared of concussion.
