Phil Mooney, coach of the revitalised Reds team, expects to have all of the players who started in Friday's opening Super 14 match, against the Highlanders, fit and eligible for selection for Round Two against the Hurricanes in Wellington next Friday.

The Reds came through a bruising encounter with the Highlanders at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane with four valuable points from their 22-16 victory and, almost as importantly, no injuries apart from the usual bumps and bruises.

“A few of the players are a bit tender after what was a pretty physical encounter,” Mooney said.

“Rodney Blake has a sore ankle and Chris Latham is nursing stitches in his mouth, but everyone should be right for the next round against the Hurricanes on Friday.”

There were also no judicial after-effects from Friday's match.

The citing commissioner viewed incidents involving players from both sides but found no reason to take any action.

The Reds are due to fly to Wellington on Wednesday.
