Bath have announced that fly-half Orlando Bailey and centre Max Ojomoh have put pen to paper on new two-year deals at the Recreation Ground.

Bailey, 20, who was called up to England‘s Six Nations squad ahead of their first match, and 21-year-old Ojomoh, are both products of the Bath academy.

The duo have also represented England U20 and are seen as very much the future at the Premiership club, with boss Stuart Hooper thrilled with the news.

Incredible work ethic

“To have two young, talented pathway players commit their future to the club is extremely significant,” the Bath director of rugby explained on Tuesday.

“Orlando and Max have both been given their opportunity over the past year and have taken it with both hands.

“Their work ethic has been incredible, their attitude has been exemplary and they have pushed hard for selection every week.

“That is a credit not only to them, but to the pathway coaches who have helped develop them to this stage of their career.

“They have both been involved in international camps and have proved their worth.”

In a further lift for Bath supporters, the club has announced that experienced prop Ma’afu Fia has joined the Blue, Black and White on loan from Ospreys.

The Tonga international has signed from the United Rugby Championship outfit as injury cover for Johannes Jonker until the end of the current season.

He links up with Bath with immediate effect and will be available for selection for this weekend’s match against Leicester Tigers in the Premiership.

“We are grateful to Ospreys for allowing Ma’afu to join us as injury cover until the end of the season,” said head coach Neal Hatley.

“He is a strong scrummager with international experience and will add value to our tighthead options alongside Stuey, D’Arcy, Johannes and Kieran.”
